Dolly Parton: a constant thread through my life
Tony Stockwell reflects on Dolly Parton's enduring influence and a personal flood of memories sparked by news of her passing.

I heard today that Dolly Parton has passed over, and I feel a real sadness settle in my heart. My mind went straight back to the 1980s, to a Walkman on my lap and her cassettes playing while I was meant to be studying at college, a spiritual book open in front of me instead. She’s been such a constant thread through my life ever since — I count myself lucky to have seen her live in concert in London, and it was always on my bucket list to finally make it to Dollywood. Dolly was a true pioneer: a woman who never stopped being exactly herself, who loved diversity and accepted everyone just as they were, rhinestones and all. Long may she be remembered, and long may her light continue to shine.

These old bones.. one of my favourites x
