Encouraged by the responses to my first poem, here is another. I have a lot, but I won’t hound you with my poetic offerings. I do sincerely hope you glean something from this one.
We Came to Remember
Born to a world that doesn’t always make sense
for those of us who feel too much, too soon, too deep—
sensitivity is not for the faint of heart.
We came in already listening
to frequencies the world forgot it had.
Some days it is hard to fit
a soul made of starlight
into rooms built for smaller things.
We yearn for clarity the way the tide yearns for the moon—
quietly, constantly, without ever being asked.
And still we rise. Still we wake
looking for the day’s small opportunity to serve,
to brighten a stranger’s grey morning,
to place our hands where sickness lives
and offer, instead, an embrace that remembers how to heal.
It takes a certain bravery to be this open—
to say what we think, to live what we believe,
to share our truth so carefree
in a world still learning
what to do with people made of light.
We are the ones who ask the enormous questions.
We are the ones who never stop seeking,
because some ancient part of us remembers
that we did not come here merely to exist—
we came to remember. And in remembering,
to spend this lifetime in meditation, in contemplation,
in conversations that reach far past
the ordinary edges of the ordinary world.
We are blessed. We are divine—
not because we are separate from you,
but because we dared to look inward
and found the divine looking back.
So to you, the reader, wherever you are tonight:
there is a bravery already living in you,
a quiet power waiting to be spoken.
Keep seeking the light. Keep seeking the truth.
Let it be your one desire
to leave this world lighter than you found it—
having searched, and having found,
a brightness inside yourself
you were brave enough to share.
